In eHRPD network, device equipped with Qualcomm chipset uses profile information to attach to PDN.

After installation connect your phone in diag mode, make sure the driver is loaded and start QPST. You see the following screen. Sometimes QPST automatically detects the phone and shows it. If not click on 'Add New Port' and manually enter the COM port from step 1. Now select 'Start Clients' and 'EFS Explorer'. To access QPST with OnePlus 8, follow instructions here. Open EFS Explorer and navigate to following folder: /nv/itemfiles/modem/lte/rrc/efs. In this folder, search for and backup ltefeaturedisable and/or ltefeaturedisableSubscription01 to your computer and afterwards delete them from your phone EFS filesystem.

Jun 10, 2009 EFS Key retrieves EFS-encrypted files from NTFS partitions. To retrieve the files, the encryption password must be known or SAM database must be present. EFS Key user interface is similar to Windows Explorer. User can browse disk contents, then drag and drop files to a new location.

Below are details on how to configure profile files and make data call via QMICM:
1. Open Qualcomm QPST configuration software, select EFS Explorer:

2. Select correct Port and click OK:

3. Wait couple seconds and you will see the file system inside device. Click on application_specific_profiles, you should see some profile files. The naming convention is “profile” followed by an underscore, followed by the profile ID, e.g., a file named profile_101.txt uses profile ID 101:

Note: Some devices (e.g. Qualcomm FFA) have profiles 101-107. Some devices (e.g. Pantech UML290) have 5 profiles as shown in above picture, and profile_000 is used by default if don't specify a 3GPP2 Profile ID in QMICM during call setup.

4. Pay attention to Profile ID, APN_String and PDN_IP_Version_Type. These values will be used later during call setup.

5. If you need modify the profiles, following are the instructions:

a) drag the profile onto desktop, modify, and then drag back to EFS window to replace the old profiles.

b) Reboot device.

c) Open EFS Explorer again, ensure your change to these profiles take effect. And then close EFS Explorer.

6. Open QMI Connection Manager, select an interface from the Select Device drop-down list. If the correct USB drivers are installed, one or more devices should appear in this list. Select the checkbox ahead of Technology Preference and set it to 3GPP2. Select the checkbox ahead of IP Family Pref and choose the IP type:

Note:

a) If you don't specify 3GPP2 Profile ID, profile_000.txt will be used by default.

b) For some devices, 3GPP2 Profile ID is mandatory, otherwise you will see an exception after click CONNECT. This mostly happens when device doesn't have a default profile file.

7. Click CONNECT to bring up the call. Once the call is connected, the button will change to DISCONNECT. Click DISCONNECT when you are ready to disconnect the call.

Enable all available LTE-features on your Qualcomm device

This instruction helps you to enable all LTE-features on your Qualcomm devices like 1024QAM DL and 256QAM UL. Some features only supported only with SDX52, SDX55 and newer modems.

Before continuing, I remind you these changes could end your device warranty. Be careful because this can make your device unusable.

Requirements

Make sure your device have X55 Modem Baseband version HI2.0 or newer. In Android you can check this in Settings -> About -> Status and find Baseband version.
Qualcomm diag driver installed and access to QPST/EFS.
Hex File Editor (eg. HxD Editor).

This instruction is tested with OnePlus 8 (IN2013) and 8 Pro (IN2023). To access QPST with OnePlus 8, follow instructions here.

Steps

Open EFS Explorer and navigate to following folder: /nv/item_files/modem/lte/rrc/efs

In this folder, search for and backup lte_feature_disable and/or lte_feature_disable_Subscription01 to your computer and afterwards delete them from your phone EFS filesystem. If these files do not exist, find lte_feature_enable and/or lte_feature_enable_Subscription01 and copy these (or one if only one exists) files to your computer. Modify lte_feature_enable(_Subscription01) files as needed.

Then find lte_feature_enable and/or lte_feature_enable_Subscription01 and copy these one or both files to your computer. Modify these files.

Qpst Efs Explorer Imei

For Qualcomm SDX52 and SDX55 modems, we have already modified file. Download it and replace current file with this file or modify it manually.

Qpst Ef-s Explorer

Change all values to 11111111 (FF) to enable all LTE-features what chipset support. Here is explanations of all Feature bits.

Copy file back to phone as ItemFile (don´t drag and drop).

Qpst

Right click on EFS Explorer and select Copy Item File from PC.

Click Browse and find then file on your computer and then click OK. Wait the confirmation message of item transfer from EFS Explorer.

You can check enabled features in UE Capability Information message. To confirm you have 256QAM UL enabled, find “ul-256QAM-r14” in UE Capability Information message.
